Chris Hemsworth Only Eating 600 Calories a Day for New Role

Chris Hemsworth Sighting in La Gomera - November 19, 2013

Chris Hemsworth caught the eye of many women when he appeared on the big screen as superhero Thor. For the role, Hemsworth gained 20 pounds of muscle by working out like a mad man. Unfortunately ladies, the Thor body may be history. According to The Huffington Post, Hemsworth is currently eating just 600 calories a day to lose weight for his new role in Ron Howard’s film ‘Heart of the Sea’.

Hemsworth, 30, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live this week to discuss many things including his new crash diet. In the interview he said,

“A bunch of sailors in a whaling ship get struck by a whale, the ship sinks and they jump onto the small rafts and drift for 90 days. And basically they begin to die and eat each other … a romantic comedy,” he joked, continuing, “And we have to get rather skinny. So we’re on 500 or 600 calories a day.  I mean, you can consume 600 calories in a milkshake,” he explained. “So it ends up being a couple of small salads, a couple of small pieces of protein and that’s kind of it and you go to bed hungry. And then you have like a fasting period of 15 hours, like you stop eating completely, and then you have little meals through the day.”

That sounds absolutely miserable. During the interview Hemsworth did say he was in a good mood because he had a little bit of pizza before he came on. Apparently, he’s allowed one cheat day a week. Either way, the days of Thor’s buff body is pretty much over. We’re curious to see the film and Hemsworth’s new look.
