Sometimes, there will be actor who has worked most of his life, had a great reputation as a talented actor, but somehow managed to fly just under the super star radar. Actor Eli Wallach was one of those actors. Those who knew the industry of film knew the man was a powerhouse, but if you stopped and asked most people who Eli Wallach was, they would not know. Coming from an era of film when men were men and didn’t have to hide that fact behind being PC and sensitive, sadly, Eli Wallach just passed away at 98 years old.

Remembered best for The Magnificant Seven, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, and even one of the Godfather movies, he is one of those character actors who had a menacing presence and he didn’t need tons of lines to get that across like some actors would. While we can look at it like the industry just took a loss (and it did) what you need to realize is 98 years is amazing. Especially considering he got to spend those doing something that he loved dearly. While Eli Wallach may not be a household name to the younger generation, he is to those in the generations he reached.

A grizzled character actor with a voice made of gravel and a presence you could never forget. May Eli Wallach rest in peace.
