Adam Levine is a singer and reality television host with an estimated net worth of $50 million. Born March 18, 1979 in Los Angeles, he is the son of Fred and Patsy Levine. His father is the founder of a retail chain M. Fredric and his mother a counselor of admissions. One of three boys, he was the subject of a broken household when his parents divorced after his seventh birthday. His parents forced him into therapy because of crying when they announced their divorce, though he calls it a waste of time and states he was just fine and that his reaction was not abnormally different than that of any child whose parents just announced they would not be together any longer.
Musical his entire life, Adam Levine was very uninterested in doing anything that was school related. He wanted to spend all his time focusing on his music, along with his future band mates with whom he met in school as a child. It was 1995 when Levine and his band mates, Jesse Carmichael and Mickey Madden formed their first band, Kara’s Flowers, and began playing their music for the public. Their first gig was at a West Hollywood nightclub, and they were discovered by Tommy Allen in 1997 at a party in Malibu. They released their first album that year, also appearing on the hit television show Beverly Hills 90210. The album was more than a flop, the band broke up and Levine and Carmichael went to New York to pursue other interests, including a semester in college.
It wasn’t until he was an assistant on the hit show Judging Amy that Levine began writing songs about an old girlfriend named Jane, and decided it was time to experiment with a different sound with his old band mates and a new member, Ryan Dusick. They decided on the name Maroon 5, submitted a demo all over Hollywood and began to hear back in the form of rejection after rejection. That’s when they finally had executives at Octone Records listen to their music and decide to follow up with the hit album, “Songs about Jane,” written about Levine’s ex.
It was 2002 when he album was released, not making it big for quite a while. However, as the album began selling more and more records as a sleeper hit, they eventually sold 10 million copies and went on to be the 10th best selling album in 2004. In 2005, the band won a Grammy for Best New Artist and continued to become more and more famous as time went on. The subsequent albums released by the band were hugely successful, but it was not until 2011 when Adam Levine began to host “The Voice” on television that he became a household name. He’s now one of the most famous men in the world, and he’s earning an estimated $12 million per season for his hit reality show. He married supermodel Behati Prinsloo in 2014, and he has continued to rise in fame ever since.
