Lady Gaga is an American singer with an estimated net worth of $275 million. Born on March 28, 1986 in Manhattan, New York, she is the daughter of Cindy and Joseph Anthony Germonotta, Jr. Her full name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. Born and raised on the Upper West Side in a very affluent lifestyle thanks to her father’s successful internet business, Lady Gaga had a privileged upbringing that surprises many of her fans. Her parents came from families without very much growing up, so they always wanted to teach their kids to work for all that they have. Despite a beautiful home and nice things surrounding her, Lady Gaga worked hard for things growing up, and that is a trait that has not left her in adulthood.
She was a very good student in high school, though she says she was not very confident. Her insecurities made it difficult for her to make friends and she was not someone ‘fit in’ throughout her school career. She often said she was a freak who was made fun of, and that is part of the reason she works so hard to ensure her fans are okay with her being who she is. She works hard to encourage them to follow their hearts and not worry about what others think, something that’s been important to her throughout the course of growing up.
When she was only four, she began playing the piano. She began writing ballads and music to go with before she was a teenager, and she was doing open mic nights in New York at the age of 14. Lady Gaga always knew she wanted to be a performer, and she spent a lot of time with her music and on the stage at the theater when she was a teen. At 17 after her mother’s encouragement, she applied for a musical theater training conservatory called the Collaborative Arts Project 21. She was one of 20 kids that was admitted early, and she began living at NYU right away to pursue her dreams.
Despite her talent growing up, though, it would be a few years before Lady Gaga became famous. It was 2008 when her first album “The Fame” was released, though it did not perform very well on the charts at first. Lady Gaga’s first single “Just Dance,” was released four months, and it was all right, but did not gain much attention at first. It was not until “Poker Face” reached number one in 2009 that her album became a hit and she won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording the same year.
After that, she was an instant hit and everyone knew her name. Since 2009, Lady Gaga has released 5 studio albums, each one more popular than the last. She’s been all over the world on tour, and she’s now a leading activist for many different causes, such as the LGBT community and more. She’s an inspiration to young women and men everywhere, and her music does make you want to get up and just dance.
