Nicki Minaj Net Worth

Nicki Minaj is a rapper with a net worth of $60 million. Born December 8, 1982 on the island of St. James (Trinidad and Tobago), she grew up with her father Robert, a financial executive, and her mother Carol, a gospel singer. Unfortunately, her father was a drug and alcohol addict, and she grew up in a household filled with turmoil. Her father’s addiction was so bad, in fact, that he actually burned down the family home in 1987. She states that growing up in a household with no rules and no real motivation wasn’t easy for her; she craved rules and more strict behavior from her parents. She did not get it. However, she was able to audition for admission to a very prestigious performing arts school when she was in New York living in Queens called LaGuardia High School.

Upon graduation, she became an actress off-Broadway. She worked as a waitress for part-time income, but she was fired from more than a dozen jobs because she was not very nice to customers – something she readily admits. She spent a little time in late 2007 and early 2008 singing with a group known as Full Force, but she put that aside and decided to focus on her solo career with Dirty Money Records, where she released three mix tapes. The final one saw one track make it to the Billboard Top 20. It was only a few months after that when rapper Lil Wayne discovered Nicki Minaj and decided she had potential. She began rapping with more famous rappers, such as Gucci Mane and Trina, and she eventually got a recommendation from Jay Z to work with Robin Thicke.

It was 2010 when the fifth single from her underwhelming album “Pink Friday” came out that she finally began to see real fame. The name of the song is “Super Bass,” and it made it to number three on the Billboard Top 20. With that kind of success to her name, she went on to become more famous as she feuded with rappers Lil Kim and Foxy Brown, and then she went on to release two more hit albums and land a role judging the hit reality television show American Idol, where she spent a season then feuding with superstar Mariah Carey. Not long after that, Nicki Minaj won her fourth BET Best Female Hip Hop Artist Award, making her the first to do so consecutively.

A year later, she won the same award for the fifth time. She’s known as the “Black Lady Gaga,” for her outrageous costumes and hair, but she’s toned down her image tremendously in terms of her crazy hair and makeup. Now she’s better known for her lack of clothing that covers most of her body parts. She is the most followed rapper on Twitter, and she spent a time speaking only in a British accent and leading many to believe she was actually British. She’s known for her many alter egos that come out in her songs, and though many don’t understand her, they love her. She’s one of the most famous rappers of her time.
