15 Celebrities Who Are Big Car Collectors

Some people call it collecting and some people call it hoarding, but if it’s cars, it’s probably collecting. Since many people don’t have unlimited funds with which to purchase vehicles as a collector’s items, most of the biggest car collections in the world belong to celebrities and/or other wealthy people. And since they don’t get piled from floor to ceiling in every room of the house and make it impossible for them to figure out where that dog really did go all those years ago, it’s considered a collection. Read on to find out which celebrities have the most impressive car collections in the world.

Jay Leno

He has more than 850 vehicles in his collection, and he loves them so much he actually posts his photos online and drives his cars as often as possible. He has everything from virtually every manufacturer ever made in his really, really big garage. He keeps his cars in his Los Angeles garage, and you’re bound to see him driving them on a regular basis. He’s not just a collector; he’s an avid driver and he prefers to take them out as often as possible instead of just looking at them.

Jerry Seinfeld

If ever you’ve watched the show Seinfeld in syndication (or when it was new), you know that there is a Porsche sign, signal, hat or something in every episode, kind of like a Superman reference. That’s because Jerry Seinfeld is the biggest Porsche collector in the world. He has an impressive car collection in general, but he’s kind of obsessed with Porsche. It’s all he’ll drive and it’s what he loves to collect. He has originals from almost every year they’ve ever been made, and he’s always happy to talk about his big collection.

Ralph Lauren

He’s famous for being the world-famous designer credited with putting a horse on a polo shirt and upping the price tag from $20 to $80 and making billions. Ralph Lauren is also an avid car collector. The vast majority of the world has no idea what he has in his impressive collection, but he did recently put up a tour for auction at his Ralph Lauren Pink Pony Charity Auction for $150,000. The winner will get to walk through the garage with the designer himself and take a ride in one of his classics, one of which is reportedly a 1936 Bugatti worth more than $30 million.

Patrick Dempsey

He has a very McDreamy car collection. He’s also a race car driver on the side – because actors as successful as he need a side job. He has classics from all the biggest manufacturers in his collection, including vehicles you can’t find just anywhere. His collection includes classic Ferraris, Porsches and Jags, and he is a very respected driver. He’s got a few racers in his collection, and he’s even got a racing team. He’s been into cars since he was a child, and finally realized his dream of owning a collection when he became famous.

Sultan of Brunei

When you have a title that includes the word Sultan, you can have whatever you want. And that’s especially true of someone such as the Sultan of Brunei. He has a car collection that reportedly includes approximately 5,000 vehicles. Many of his vehicles are first editions, rare finds and cars that were made only once; and by only, we mean that those cars were made just for him and there is only one in the world. And that only one in the world is parked in what has to be his very enviable garage.

Tim Allen

He’s such a guy and always plays one on television that it’s not surprising for anyone to hear he has a nice car collection. His collection includes everything from Mustangs to Porsches and even Jags. His collection is mostly made up of American muscle cars, which he admits to loving a bit too much. However, he does have an impressive collection of European vehicles that he does drive on occasion, even though he’d rather be behind the wheel of a mustang than a Jag. His garage is impressive enough that he even has the sign from Home Improvement hanging on one of the walls.

Charlie Watts

There are plenty of people that recognize his name immediately, and few others that will nod and smile when I mention that he’s the eccentric member of the band the Rolling Stones (cue knowing smile and nod). What’s interesting about Watts’ car collection is the fact that he is someone who owns a car collection that’s so impressive that it has other collectors green with envy, but he has no driver’s license. The good news is that all his cars are garage-kept and have very low mileage. He does, however, reportedly have suits made to match each car so he can sit in them.

Missy Elliott

While it’s not really known how many cars are in her collection, it is known that her mother has asked her several times to stop buying vehicles. She prefers newer cars she can drive around enough to be flashy, but she does have a few classics in her collection. Her favorite is her purple Lamborghini, which she likes to drive often. She’s also had this car featured in a number of her rap videos and can be seen driving it around regularly. She prefers to collect cars that get up and go. If it’s not fast and impressive, you won’t find it in her massive collection.

T-Pain

He’s a famous rapper who’s known for his avid car collection. With dozens of vehicles in his collection, the rapper has a little bit of everything. Some of his most notable cars include ea 1969 Chevy Impala he customized with bright orange paint. Not only does he prefer to customize all his vehicles, he actually prefers to customize them on his own. He’s great with cars, and prefers to do the custom work on his own, which is something most other collectors find pretty impressive considering they’re happy to hire out for that kind of work.

Wyclef Jean

Being one of the most famous musicians in the world has its benefits. For Wyclef Jean, that benefit is having enough money in the bank to bankroll his collection of 37 vehicles. Most of them are customized for him, so they’re not classics. They’re newer vehicles he just wants to drive. He has them pimped out and customized to his liking, so he’s the only person driving vehicles like his own. He doesn’t have to worry about seeing someone else driving down the street in the same ride. And he has one for every day of the month, with a few extra.

John Cena

He’s famous for being a wrestler, but he’s also famous for his car collection. He’s not a flashy car kind of guy, however. His collection includes vehicles that are a little more down to earth and just plain classic. He boasts ownership of a 1971 Ford Torino GT, a 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator and even a 1970 Plymouth Superbird. You won’t find anything customized or flashy in his collection, but that doesn’t stop him from driving his many cars around when he’s in the mood.

Nicholas Cage

He’s faced some legal problems as of late, which has caused him to have to downsize his car collection quite a bit. However, before he was forced to sell cars to pay those pesky taxes, he was one of the most impressive owners of a car collection in the business. His car collection was reportedly impressive enough to rival that of the nicest collections in the world. One of the vehicles in his collection includes a Lamborghini Miura that once belonged to the Shah of Iran at one time, making it a royal vehicle.

Nick Mason

He’s the drummer from Pink Floyd, and he’s a big car collector. He has the Bentley his own father used to race more than six decades ago in his collection, in addition to a 250 GTO. This classic Ferrari is one so expensive and so exceptional that it’s worth several million dollars, and it’s something to brag about. For many years, there’s been a rumor that the drummer took his kids to school in the snow in this classic because it’s the only car that would start in the cold weather. He’s also good about loaning his vehicles to shows when asked.

Brian Johnson

The singer from AC/DC is an avid car collector. He loves to collect classic cars that aren’t found just anywhere anymore. His collection is very impressive, and it continues to grow with regularity. His favorite driver is a 1957 Vespa. It’s the one he takes out the most. While he’s a good driver, he prefers to take his driving seriously in the same manner as Patrick Dempsey. He’s trained as a race car driver and loves to hit the track to race cars – though we’re not sure if he ever races any of his own.

Jay Kay

You might not recognize his name by itself, but you will recognize his face. He is one of the members of the band Jamiroquai. When he began to get more and more famous, he began his car collection. At the moment, he has more than 25 vehicles in his collection. And while that’s nowhere near the number of vehicles some of the other collectors on this list boast, it’s still impressive. He has Aston Martin’s made famous by the early Bond films, and even a Ferrari Enzo that he currently uses as his daily driver. It’s an impressive collection that continues to grow.
