The Weeknd is the stage name of Abel Makkonen Tesfaye who was born on February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Canada. He launched his career in the music industry in 2010 by uploading some of his songs onto YouTube. The following year, he released three nine-track mixtapes followed by the compilation album ‘Trilogy’ in 2012. He didn’t release his debut studio album ‘Kiss Land’ until 2013. He then released the album ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ which hit the top spot in the US Billboard 200. He released three of the songs from this album as singles; ‘The Hills’, ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, and ‘Earned It’. These songs held all three top positions in the Billboard Hot R&B chart at the same time and he is the first artist to ever achieve this. In 2016, he released a single and an album, both called ‘Starboy’, both of which hit the top spot once again. He has also had several tours and this is another source of income for this star. The Weeknd has also had several business ventures, including a partnership with Puma and releasing a limited-edition PAX 2 vaporizer.
