Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s marriage is one that surprised the world, but since news broke that the couple had exchanged their vows, fans have been anxiously awaiting news as to what Jolie wore to her wedding. In classic Jolie tradition, she chose something not entirely traditional, and decidedly Versace. The 39-year-old actress and mother knows what looks good on her, and she turned to high-end luxury designer Donatella Versace to create a custom gown just for her big day – and she let her kids help design her gorgeous wedding gown.
“Donatella Versace designed Angelina Jolie a custom silk satin Atelier Versace gown gathered at the bust with an elongated train detailed with embroidered drawings of her children. These drawings were also reproduced on her silk veil. She accessorized with white Versace silk satin pumps,” said the press release released by Atelier Versace.
Luigi Massi, the master tailor for Versace, also made Jolie’s famous Oscar gown from 2012. You know the one; the one with the slit up to there that bared the thigh heard round the world. The two are longtime friends who collaborate often on gowns and designs for the gorgeous star, so it only makes sense that Jolie would go to him when it came to designing the most important dress she’ll ever wear in her life.
This dress is certainly a first for Versace, who has never created a wedding gown with custom drawings of anyone’s children on the dress. However, it is perfectly Angelina, who makes it clear regularly that her kids are the most important part of her life.
“Luigi is like family to me and I couldn’t imagine anyone else making this dress. He knows and cares for the children and it was great fun putting it together,” Jolie says of her collaboration with Massi.
