When I retire I hope to do move to an exotic island and just live the rest of my days eating fresh fruit and sleeping for 20 hours a day. Seems Barbara Walters and I have a similar retirement plan. The main difference is, what I would do for the rest of my life, she only plans on doing for the first day. After that, it is back to being the Barbara Walters we all know and love.
But, for the first day of Barbara Walters’ retirement, she is planning on spending the day in bed until 3. For a woman who has had to get up at around 4 a.m her whole life, that is a pretty big deal. After that, she has a trip to Berlin planned with one her friends. Outside of that, nothing spectacular. But I beg the question: Can a woman who has the consummate professional her whole life just shut that off? I tend to think not, for it is never that easy. She is a powerhouse and a staple in the interview industry and it is silly to think she will turn her back all the way on those gifts she has.
For now, though, she just wants to sleep late and go on vacation for awhile. Pretty sure she has earned it.
