Bradley Cooper Put on 40 lbs for New Role as Navy SEAL

86th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Eric Close recently hosted a fundraiser at their L.A.-area home for The Africa Foundation. Close and his wife, Keri, have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity and they were at it again on Saturday. Not to discredit the news of the charitable event and the terrific efforts of Close and his wife, but the celebrity news to report has to do with Close’s most recent movie role.

Close appeared alongside Bradley Cooper in the upcoming film American Sniper. The film is an upcoming Clint Eastwood-directed real-life drama about the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who made more than 150 confirmed kills over his decade-long career as a sniper. While Kyle is played by Close, Cooper had a bit of a body transformation for his role. According to Close,

“He put on like 40 lbs. He’s really been working hard. He looks great. He’s really taken to his character. … He really takes this story personally and wants to do an honorable job for Chris’ memory and his family.”

We’ll make sure to release a photo of Cooper when it’s released. It’s a big of a different role for Bradley of late and we’re looking forward to it. Close is great and most things that Eastwood does is awesome.
