With stories all over the internet that Britney Spears is going to “lip-sync her way through her Vegas performances” it should come as no surprise that her ticket sales are struggling mightily. According to RadarOnline, Spears’ two-year residency state show ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas has had poor ticket sales and reports are indicating that everyone connected to the show is seriously worried.
The sales are bad enough that of the 16 shows Spears is set to perform running December 17th to February 22, only 3 have sold out. A source told Radar that after spending hundreds of thousands on promos they expected all 16 shows to sell out immediately and they didn’t even come close. Insiders are looking at this as a potential disaster.
The Hard Rock has held tons of different artists including Celine Dion and Shania Twain. Each artist’s block of shows sold out almost instantly. Spears is positioned to make $15 million a year during her residency, which would seemingly make the two-year $30 million investment a poor one at best. There’s still time for sales to rebound, but those involved with the show are not hopeful. Like I said, it’s the lip-syncing.
