The film adaptation of the ultra-popular ’50 Shades of Grey’ has left fans tormented and tortured for months. First, there was a tremendous amount of speculation as to who would play Christian Grey. Eventually, British actor Charlie Hunnam was cast much to the chagrin of ’50 Shades’ fans around the world. Grey’s partner, Anastasia Steele, was dealt to Dakota Johnson and met with a similar lack of enthusiasm. Well, congratulations to the 90,000 fans that petitioned to have the roles recast – you got half your wish.
According to The Huffington Post, Charlie Hunnam has backed out of his commitment to play Christian Grey leaving the role open to another. There have been conflicting reports as to why Hunnam will no longer be a part of the project. On one side, we read that Hunnam’s schedule for ‘Sons of Anarchy’ didn’t agree with the film shooting and he couldn’t pull it off. However, there is speculation that Hunnam got cold feet about the the role and his schedule has no conflicts.
This turn of events comes only weeks after reading reports that Johnson and Hunnam had terrific chemistry and would meet ’50 Shades’ fans’ expectations. Back to the speculation as to who will fill the role. Fans wanted Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel in the roles. Perhaps you will still see Bomer. As far as we know, Dakota Johnson is still good to go.
