We’ve been reporting on Chelsea Handler’s next career move for quite some time. There have been speculative stories about Handler moving to ‘The Late Late Show’ and more. While it’s unsure as to what Chelsea will do next, the first step to her moving on from E! has been announced.
According to reports, Chelsea Handler will be leaving her E! late night talk show ‘Chelsea Lately’ on August 26. The 39-year old comedic host will finish her seven-year run with an hour-long special. Handler is leaving E! gracefully:
“I myself am more surprised than anyone that I was able to hold down a job for seven years, and it was a fantastic seven years,” Handler told The Hollywood Reporter. “I will always look back at my time on E! as most people look back at their time in college. I’m glad I went.”
Handler hired manager Irving Azoff earlier this year to figure out her life after ‘Chelsea Lately’ and she was connected to several other gigs for month. Essentially, the writing was on the wall that Handler was moving on. The popularity of the show has all but ensured that she’ll transition into a new job with virtually no delay. It remains to be seen if she’ll be making the jump to a major network, but that’s our bet!
