DJ Paul was stopped by NYPD officers back in October after leaving a restaurant with an open beer in his hand. According to police, Paul admitted he was carrying a taser at the time, so he was placed under arrest for misdemeanor possession of a weapon. He was also charged with carrying an open container.

Paul originally pled “not guilty” to the charges — but today, the rapper struck a plea deal with prosecutors, agreeing to plead guilty to disorderly conduct instead. Paul has been sentenced to community service so he got off pretty easily. He was only sentenced to 21 hours and hopefully he won’t be carrying around a taser at whatever community he serves.

Who carries around a taser these days? I suppose in the grand scheme of gun control issues we face today, a taser isn’t all that horrible.
