Ex-Miss Delaware Teen USA Melissa King compromised her crown for a grand total of $1,500, cash she earned to star in her now-famous adult video. Melissa denied she’s the one in the XXX video. The guys behind the website that exposed her torpedoed her denial by posting a video of the 18-year-old beauty queen, reading a release form on their website. In the clip, Melissa identifies herself by name.

Not that I want to run and defend Melissa here.  She’s a big girl and will deal with the consequences of her past.  However, she didn’t know she was going to win the crown.  She had no idea that this would come to haunt her.  Then again, that like a baseball player or cyclist who takes steroids not thinking they’ll ever get caught.

Forget what I said.  Melissa, that was a big error in judgment.

I’m no longer sure that kids like her even live on the same planet as the rest of us. This is not a dumb girl, nor is she someone who had nothing to lose, title or no title. She even seems more or less okay with the notoriety, although not necessarily for notoriety’s sake, which would at least be a familiar malady. It certainly wasn’t for money such that it would’ve changed her life in any meaningful way.

So, what’s left as motive? She wanted to have sex with a big dick on tape, so that the momentary affection–or at least attention–of people whom she might never meet could be attained. That was her GOAL. It seems to her, even now, to have been worth the consequences, whatever they might be.

PEOPLE WHO CHERISH NOTHING IN THEMSELVES CAN HARDLY BE EXPECTED TO CHERISH ANYTHING IN OTHERS.

That, my inquisitive friend, is our Brave New World. Two girls and a teacup are our present. How long until that present is “Incest TV” and “Rape TV”?

Or, the Hunger Games, for real? Who will say it no? Who will stay their hand?

None of these, I fear, would even think of trying.
