Fashion designer L’Wren Scott was found hanged to death today in her Manhattan apartment of an apparent suicide, according to New York police. Scott, 47, was the longtime girlfriend of superstar singer Mick Jagger.
According to the authorities, police were called to Scott’s apartment in NYC’s Chelsea neighborhood at 10:05 a.m. and found her lifeless body hanging from a scarf on a doorknob. Police did not suspect foul play, a source said, but the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine a cause of death. There was no suicide note found.
Scott had texted her assistant at 8:30 a.m. and asked that she come over, police sources said. When the assistant arrived, she found the body and called 911.
The 6’4” raven haired beauty was a renowned fashion designer, stylist, and fashion model. Scott’s first collection as a clothing designer launched in 2006. Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Amy Adams, and Sarah Jessica Parker all wore Scott’s dresses to the Academy Awards. Other celebrities who have worn her designs include Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lopez, and Uma Thurman. Scott also recently designed an exclusive holiday collection, including women’s apparel and accessories, for Banana Republic.
Scott had been romantically linked to the Rolling Stones frontman for more than a decade. The former model met Jagger in 2001. The rock legend is currently on tour with his band, and recently arrived in Australia.
“Great to be back In Australia! Looking forward to the first show in Perth,” Jagger tweeted at 8am EST.
A spokesperson for Jagger reported to ABC News that he is completely devastated and shocked by the news.
