Premiere Of Warner Bros. "Terminator Salvation" - Arrivals

There are two schools of people when it comes to actor Eric Dane. Those who know him as his nick name McSteamy on Grey’s Anatomy, and those who know him from the tear jerker of a dog movie, Marley and Me. But what else is there to this actor who seems to win over large female audiences with his smoldering looks? Once you peel a few layers, I think you might be surprised just how deep this onion goes.   Here are five things you didn’t know about Eric Dane.

Was Once In Saved by the Bell

IWC 'For The Love Of Cinema' Cannes Event - The 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival

Before making it big, back when he was just a struggling young actor taking any parts he could, Eric Dane landed a gig on Saved by the Bell. Sadly, he did not become one of the show regulars. Still must be a pretty cool thing to have on the resume as a young guy out in L.A.

Sorry but the 80’s and 90’s TV nerd in me cannot help but salute that. To star in one iconic childhood show is good enough, but to get to do a spot on both? He had the 80’s covered with The Wonder Years and early nineties covered with Saved by the Bell. Of course, he probably looks back in horror like we all do at younger versions of ourselves.

Studied Charles Manson Case

Premiere Of 20th Century Fox's "Marly & Me" - Arrivals

No need to get freaked out or anything. It was actually for his role in the movie Helter Skelter about the serial killer and his prolific posse’ who did his bidding. Dane played Charles “Tex” Watson, and did his best to study up before hand so he could have a better idea of the mindset of the kind of person he would be playing in that film.

His Wife was Put on Trial for Manslaughter

It was not intentional, but sadly, actress Rebecca Gayheart was actually put on trial and sentenced for manslaughter charges involving an incident where she hit a little boy with her car and killed him. It is a moment she says she will live in deep regret of for the rest of her life. But even through all that, Eric Dane stayed by his wife’s side.
