Five Things You Didn’t Know About Keith Urban

47th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards - Show

Though Keith Urban may be best known right now as a judge on American Idol, people need to remember. Before Country music got huge in the last five years, he was already a Country music superstar. This guy was selling millions of records for a genre that most people didn’t even listen to back then. Seems there is a great deal more to Keith urban than just his Country music or even his hosting abilities. That man has led a very interesting life, as you will see. Has Fourteen Number One Songs

AT&T And Samsung Present Keith Urban Get Closer 2011 World Tour

Think about that for a second. Fourteen songs that have gone number one on the Country charts and across various other platforms. If that was any other genre of music, he would be considered a King of Pop or an icon, but in country music, he is just another humble super star. What is even more impressive is those fourteen hits are only spread across thirteen years and ten albums. What can we say, the guy just knows how to write a country song.

Faces Marriage Troubles Like the Rest of Us

45th Annual CMA Awards - Arrivals

Sometimes it is easy to look at a marriage like Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman and just assume they are happily married and never fight and there are never any problems. The fact of the matter is, that is not the case (with any couple). These two have openly admitted to having to work at their relationship to make it work, and that it has its up and downs. That is pretty much the definition of love. It will not always be sunny, but you stick it out none-the-less. We admire these do for doing just that since 2006.

 Has Been Sober Since Rehab

2011 CMT Music Awards - Rehearsals - Day 1

Sadly, Keith was n rehab from October of 2006 to January of 2007 for some problems he had to face in his life with addiction. Though it was a very tough time, he praises the love of his wife for getting him through it. He has also been successfully sober since, and doesn’t plan to go back down that darkest of roads ever again. His song Thank You was actually written for his wife for helping him through that awful time and not bailing on him like most would have.

Used To Be A Farm Boy

"Just Go With It" New York Premiere - Outside Arrivals

We know it is not that surprising to hear a Country boy was once a farm boy (as the two go hand-in-hand), but it is still cool to try and imagine this millionaire as a kid, toiling hay with wrestling pigs. Do people wrestle pigs on farms? I am not really sure what goes on there, to be quite honest. Just look how far this farm boy has come, though.

 He Has His Own Cologne

2013 CMA Music Festival - Day 3

We don’t mean that he has a cologne he really likes to wear. No, we mean he actually has his own scent he sells through stores. The cologne is called Phoenix, and is said to have hints of sandalwood and other “country” associated scents. That is pretty amazing to think at one point he was a farm boy, and now he has his own cologne and is on American Idol. See people, it can happen to anyone if you just work hard enough at it.
