Forbes Names Beyonce Most Powerful Celebrity

Barack Obama Sworn In As U.S. President For A Second Term

Every year Forbes does some math and some surveys and some more math and figures out somehow who the most powerful celebrity in the country happens to be. Forbes’ annual list of powerful celebs was announced on June 30, and this year’s most powerful celebrity is none other than Beyonce. The wife of hip hop mogul Jay-Z, the mother of Blue Ivy, and the former Destiny’s Child is officially the most powerful woman in the world.

According to Forbes, the way in which the most powerful celebrity is figured out has a lot to do with numbers (there’s that math again). They figure out who made what between June 1 last year and June 1 this year, who has the most projects in the making and who is literally just the most popular celeb around, and this year, Queen B took home the title.

She earned an estimated $115 million in the past year, and while she’s not the highest earning celebrity in the past year by a long shot, she is the most popular and things just worked out in her favor. The singer did have a big year, earning more than $2.4 million per city on her tour, she dropped a new album without anyone even knowing about it and managed to break a couple of records after selling more than 600,000 copies in less than three days, and she has a number of high-end endorsements, which all add up to make her powerful.

The list of powerful celebs includes some well-known faces and some surprising drops. Oprah is on the list as she always is, but she’s dropped to number four this year. Taking the second spot on the list behind Beyonce is pro basketball player LeBron James. Dr. Dre is number three on the list with an impressive yearly income of more than $620 million and Ellen DeGeneres rounds out the top five at number five.
