The Fosters’ Sherri Saum Opens Up about Being a Twin Mom

She’s plays a mom on television, and now she’s one in real life; The Fosters’ Sherri Saum and her husband Kamar de los Reyes welcomed twin sons in May, and the actress is finally speaking out about her new – and best – role in life. She plays a mother to five kids on her television show, but that’s much different than welcoming two little people at once (and trust me, I have almost 5-month-old twins, so I know what I’m talking about).

Saum opens up in an interview with People Magazine about the first few months of parenting her twin sons, John Ruben and Michael Luis, who were born on May 13. She discusses everything from her relatively easy pregnancy to her relatively easy birth experience to the hot topic surrounding public nursing and even her husband’s ability to make parenting so much simpler for her.

“I love how they look at me. I feel like they trust me, and in turn I feel like these little dudes are going to always have my back,” she says of her almost 3-month-old sons. Their names are simple and strong because she felt that they already have a big name to live up to, and she didn’t name them until she was born. Looking at them and their entrance into the world, she knew exactly who they were and what their names would be.

On the hectic times that come with raising two little people at the same time, Saum says her husband is the world’s greatest help, “I’m lucky because Kamar has a very organized way of approaching everything he does, and it comes in handy with babies who need structure,” she says of his parenting abilities, “Sometimes I’ll be pulling my hair out, and he’ll just swoop in like some mythical baby whispering superhero…” she gushes.
