Gisele Bundchen Opens up about New Chanel No. 5 Campaign

Gisele Bundchen is the new face of Chanel No. 5 and her new campaign was unveiled earlier this week. The supermodel and former Victoria’s Secret Angel is currently the wealthiest supermodel in the world, and her career is hotter than ever. She’s the wife of New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady, the mother of two and she couldn’t be more popular at the moment. So, what does she think about her new luxury campaign?

She loved it. She stated that the campaign, shot by famed director Baz Luhrmann, forced her out of her comfort zone and into an entirely new place in her life and her career.

“I felt the whole experience was memorable to me – it’s hard to pick one favorite part. To have the opportunity to play a part like that and go through all those different emotions was really fun,” she said of the video campaign that features her surfing, among other things.

Luhrmann and his wife were asked to create the ad, which is something they haven’t done in a decade since Nicole Kidman was the face of the brand. However, the couple was very excited to have the opportunity to get back into the swing of things with the luxury brand, and they’re even more excited about the final product.

“When we were first asked if would we do a No. 5 commercial 10 years ago, I said, ‘Look, I can’t really do that very well. I don’t know how to do commercials. I haven’t done one before. What I probably could do, though, is some sort of a trailer of a movie that never got made. It became very clear…that it wasn’t about focusing on a fragrance that is almost 100 years old. The journey was creating a character that Nicole would be perfectly suited to, who would represent the kind of woman who would wear that fragrance. The big thing for us is how the Chanel woman, that we focused on 10 years ago, how is she different now, 10 years later?” he said of his project.
