The women are running things when it comes to the highest paid television actors according to Forbes’ annual list. The list, which was released this week, revealed that Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara is the highest paid actor on television, male or female. According to Forbes, Vergara made an estimated $30 million between June 2012 and June 2013. Contributing to her immense wealth is a $175,000 paycheck per episode as well as her various endorsements that include – Cover Girl, Diet Coke, Comcast, State Farm Insurance, and thyroid medication called Synthyroid.
The fact that Vergara is the highest paid television actor comes as a surprise to many especially after seeing the huge disparity that exists between male and female movie actors. According to Forbes, Robert Downey Jr. made over $40 million more than top female film actress Angelina Jolie.
The second-highest paid television actor was Two and a Half Men’s Ashton Kutcher, who was $6 million behind Vergara. Kaley Cuoco came in third, but was outpaced by Vergara by almost three times as much. Nonetheless, that makes two females in the top three. Congrats to the ladies for owning TV!
