According to Fox News, there is now an ongoing investigation looking into the actual effectiveness of Hollywood rehab clinics. The investigation was spurned by the recent passing away of “That 70′s Show” actress Lisa Robyn Kelly, who because of her failure to straighten out, died. By all accounts produced thus far, these Hollywood rehab clinics are just expensive (over $30,000/month) getaways where celebrities are pampered and no real recovery takes place. You can read more about this story here. So you be the judge. Do you think that these clinics are useful facilities?
How many times have we heard this story? Troubled celebrity goes to rehab. Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Bynes, Robert Downey Jr., Nicole Richie, Britney Spears, even Ben Affleck. They’ve all been to rehab at least once while most of the celebrities enter rehab several times. We see the trouble with substance abuse, then the story about entering rehab, and finally the recirculation into society, yet we never ask about the rehab experience itself. By all accounts, rehab is a very, very difficult process, yet we never hear accounts of celebrities in rehab. I’m not saying this is important because it’s actually a very troubling situation, but it does beg the question: what are Hollywood rehab clinics all about and why is there such a high rate of recidivism?
