J.K. Rowling to Release New Harry Potter Story on Halloween

J.K Rowling

Harry Potter fans get excited! J.K. Rowling announced today she is planning on publishing a new Harry Potter story in just one week! The 1,700 word story will not focus on Harry or any of his friends or family members, but rather on the awful, hateful, disgusting Dolores Umbridge. She’s the horrid woman sent into Hogwarts by the Ministry of Magic to help eradicate Harry’s story that Lord Voldemort had returned. She makes her appearance in the 5th Book, The Order of the Phoenix, and she’s immediately hateful. She makes Harry write “I will not tell lies” in his own blood, permanently scratching the phrase on the back of his hand. She comes up with awful, ridiculous rules and she’s just obsessed with kittens. All in all, she’s awful.

However, Rowling feels that the only other character in the series to leave a mark on Potter in addition to Lord Voldemort deserves a little more time, a little explanation for her storyline. She feels we need to know her history. “Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious Potter characters, she is the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent physical scar on Harry. The new exclusive J.K. Rowling content provides a rich, 1,700 word back story about Umbridge’s life filled with many new details, as well as Rowling’s revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character,” said the announcement on Rowling’s website.

The website is where she will publish the story on Halloween. Pottermore is a site in which fans can get more Potter (hence the name) and this is certainly not the first time the author has opened up about additional characters on the site, and it likely will not be the last. It’s the perfect Halloween present for those who love the wizard, his friends and the characters in the books and movies.
