The 2014 World Cup is set to kick off tomorrow in Brazil and it looks like Jennifer Lopez will be part of the festivities. Reports have revealed that Lopez will perform at the tournament’s opening ceremonies tomorrow prior to the first match. The confirmation of Lopez’ performance comes just days after FIFA said she’d be unable to participate due to ‘production issues’. Looks like she’s in!
Lopez’ rep stated: “Jennifer has always wanted to participate in the World Cup opening ceremonies. We have been trying to work out scheduling and logistics. Any statements to the contrary were premature. Jennifer would not want to disappoint her fans or fans of [soccer]. She will be there.”
Lopez will perform the World Cup theme song “We Are One (Ole Ola)”. She will be joined by Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte. Four years ago, Shakira was the face of the World Cup, singing the theme song and launching a video. We’re sure that Lopez will carry the torch well and bring a solid performance to the opening ceremonies. Looking forward to an amazing World Cup this year!
