Jonah Hill Reveals He Took The SAG Minimum Salary for ‘Wolf of Wall Street’

19th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards - Backstage And Audience

Funny man Jonah Hill is quietly becoming the best side-kick in film. Hill, who has starred alongside the likes of Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, is currently one of the hottest actors in Hollywood. Because of that, you’d think he’d come at a heavy cost….. think again.

According to reports that surfaced last week, Hill took the Screen Actors Guild minimum salary of $60,000 for his role in ‘Wolf of Wall Street’. Why would he do that? Simple. He wanted to be in a Scorcese film.

“They gave me the lowest amount of money possible,” Hill told Stern. “That was their offer and I said, ‘I will sign the paper tonight. Fax me the papers tonight. I want to sign them tonight, before they change their mind. Um, yeah. For almost a seven-month shoot,” Hill replied. “I was there for over six months, two months rehearsal. I said I would sell my house and give him all my money to work for him.”

He’s becoming the guy big actors want to have by their side because they know it’ll make the movie – see ‘Moneyball’ and ‘Wolf of Wall Street’. A lot of actors would complain about pay, etc. Hill wanted to work for Scorcese so he put that as a priority. Well done.
