There are few names as associated with buzz right now as much as Joseph Gordon Levitt. Though everyone has always liked him, it seems in the last five years that like has turned to love. And now that he has written, directed, and starred in Don Jon, seems people only like and respect the dashing young actor even more. Well, good news for JGL fans who thought they may never see him in a superhero movie after The Dark Knight Rises. Not only may you see him in another superhero movie, you may very well see him as an actual superhero.
ComicBookMovie.com has the story of how Joseph Gordon Levitt is supposedly up against Paul Rudd as the lead in the new Edgar Wright Marvel film, Ant Man. How about that? Just a week ago, we reported how JGL was not planning on being in the Justice League movie for DC, and now we find out he is seriously being considered to be the lead in this Marvel film. Does DC realize they had something great and let is slip through their fingers?
We bet they do.
The one problem from a casting standpoint is, Ant Man is intended to be a funny throw back to the golden age of comics. In that sense, we need a goofy guy as the lead. Paul Rudd may actually be a better fit, believe it or not. We know Joseph Gordon Levitt can play vulnerable and goofy, but Paul Rudd has that formula mastered. This is going to be a tough call for some casting directors.
When we find out who Ant Man is, you will be first to know. Either way, Rudd or Levitt, seems they can’t lose.
