Are Kate Middleton and Prince William Expecting Twins?

Are the rumors true? Is Kate Middleton expecting twins? The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their second child next year, but could it be true that the couple is actually expecting their second and third child? According to bets in England, the answer is yes. According to any other reliable source, there is no reason to believe that there is going to be two royal babies born in the spring. However, stranger things have happened (and I say this as someone who has 6-month-old twins and friends that have 6-month-old twins 4 days older than ours, none the result of fertility meds).

The rise in twin births is due to many factors, but there is no question that there are more twins born now than ever before. One of the biggest reasons is fertility medication. However, there is no reason for any of us to believe that the Duchess is using fertility medication to help aid her in getting pregnant. The other common factor in twin conception is age. The chances of a woman getting pregnant with twins increases significantly after she turns 30 (or two months before as in my case) and the Duchess is now 32.

So are the rumors true? We don’t know. Kate Middleton suffers from a severe form of morning sickness when she’s pregnant, and she did that with her singleton pregnancy. Maybe she is expecting twins, and maybe she isn’t. All we know for certain is that she is expecting, and she’s likely just at the end of her first trimester or the beginning of her second. The Palace has not confirmed anything other than that the Duchess is pregnant and that she’s very sick. If she is having twins, we will find out next year. It would be fun for her to join the twin club.
