Kelly Pickler Partners with Meow Mix

Kellie Pickler is the kind of person who will shave her head in support of a childhood friend who battled breast cancer, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that she’s also an avid lover and helper of homeless cats. The former American Idol contestant turned country music star is not just a pretty face. She cares about people and animals and she continuously proves her support by volunteering her time and making sacrifices that will help others. Most recently, the hilarious singer has taken to feeding homeless felines in New York City. Why? Because she has to get her cat fix somewhere.

“Being that my husband is severely allergic to cats – he’s allergic to air, he’s allergic to everything – I kind of have to get my cat fix by doing things like this,” the singer says of her desire to partner with Meow Mix in an effort to help less fortunate families feed their hungry house cats. She had to give up her own cat in order to keep her husband’s health in check.

Pickler spend her day yesterday in a mobile sound booth with Meow Mix encouraging fans to approach the booth and sing their own Meow Mix jingle. For each recording, the company donated 100 Mew Mix meals to the New York City Food Bank.

“It’s amazing to be a part of something that matters. I’m encouraging all the cat lovers out there to jump into the studio…and whoever wants to get in there can sing with me,” she said before heading out the New York City to record cat jingles. As for her husband, Kyle Jacobs, feelings about her love of cats and desire to help them, “He is so supportive in everything that I do. I’m blessed to have that support from him,”.
