Kimberly Perry, the lead singer of country music group The Band Perry, got engaged to Toronto Blue Jays’ catcher J.P. Arencibia. According to People, the 27-year old Major League Baseball player flew to her family’s home in Greenville, Tennessee where he popped the question underneath an oak tree in their backyard.
It was the perfect proposal for Perry who told The Tennessean “if I get proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree.” It also didn’t hurt that a friend designed Perry’s 3.3 carat diamond engagement ring, which she absolutely loved.
Arencibia and Perry met in February 2012 at the Florida Strawberry Field Festival and started dated a few months later. The two kind of feel they have this connection that is very rare. Arencibia was convinced he would be part of her life when he saw the “If I Die Young” video, while she admits “I’ve never felt that with anyone before. He’s just a really gentle soul. He balances me for sure.” The couple plans to marry next Summer.
