Lady Antebellum Discusses Writing for New Nicholas Sparks Film
Hillary Scott is the leading lady of the famous band Lady Antebellum, and she’s also a big fan of writer Nicholas Sparks. She’s loved his love stories for a long time, and she is thrilled that her band has written a song for the newest Nicholas Sparks film. Her favorite film is The Notebook (and whose isn’t?) and the fact that the band was asked to write a song for The Best of Me was something that made her exceptionally excited.
“To be able to write for one specific thing and to put ourselves into the story, because we really try to write from our own personal experience, was really cool. It’s a really special, sweet story,” said Scott of the opportunity to pen a song for her favorite writer and filmmaker. The story is about two high school sweethearts played by James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan. They drift apart after a while and do not reunite for a long time. After 21 years apart, the couple reunites and realizes that they never stopped loving one another. Lady Antebellum created the song, “I Did With You,” for the film, which hits theaters on October 7.
“They sent us the script to the entire movie pretty much. We’ve never really had that much of a story sent to us. It was fun to follow different scenes of the movie and put that in the song. It was such a cool opportunity,” says bandmate Dave Haywood. The movie is one that touched each of the band members on the same level. It was cool for them to be able to take part in something to unique and awesome, but it was also something about the soul mates and true love story in the movie that made them all a little emotional when writing their song.
