Lorde Introduces her Song for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I

It’s fall; and you know what that means. It’s time for the new Hunger Games movie to hit theaters in just a few short weeks, and Lorde is just as happy about that as anyone else. The singer, who is famous for her hit song Royals, just released the title track for the movie and she’s not hating it. “Yellow Flicker Beat,” is the name of the song that Lorde mostly wrote and produced, and it’s going to be the theme song for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I.

“It’s my first offering from what I hope will be a soundtrack you love. It’s my attempt at getting inside her head, Katniss. I hope you like it,” the English singer posted to her Tumblr account on Monday. She’s the one behind the soundtrack, and she’s not yet said a word about any of the other artists she’s asked to be part of the movie’s soundtrack. However, she was very open about the fact that she jumped at the opportunity to be a part of his musical soundtrack and this movie.

“The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating, and as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people,” she said in a statement after she was tapped to help out with this particular project.

While we don’t know anyone else who will participate in the soundtrack, we do know that past Hunger Games soundtracks have been pretty awesome. They’ve included big names such as Coldplay and Taylor Swift, who happens to be a very good friend of Lorde’s. As the opening date of the movie draws closer with each passing day, news will break sooner rather than later as to who else will provide music for the blockbuster movie.
