Lorde is Looking Glamorous on the May Cover of ‘Teen Vogue’
The usually grunge-inspired looks of Lorde have been replaced with Marc by Marc Jacob‘s fall 2014 collection. The 17-year-old singing wunkerkind scored her first mainstream American fashion magazine cover, appearing the front of the May issue of Teen Vogue. On the cover, Lorde is wearing a plaid top by Marc Jacob’s and looks lovely in a softer makeup palette, contrasting her usual look of sporting very dark lips. See the photo here.
Lorde is on fire. She recently tied with Imagine Dragons as the finalist with the most nominations at the Billboard Music Awards. She is a finalist in 12 categories after only her first year as a charted singer.
The Aukland, New Zealand native discussed her signature gothic-tinged style in the cover story: “There are a lot of expectations in this industry about looking a certain way and having a certain kind of appeal,” she told Andrew Bevan. “I am feminine, but I really love dressing in boys’ clothes too. I guess that’s why I get labeled as ‘the grumpy girl,’ because I don’t play into that.”
Lorde was dolled up again at the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Brooklyn. While honoring Nirvana and singing lead on “All Apologies,” she wore a bright bubblegum-pink suit, in a loose fit with an oversized jacket. This outfit broke her very long streak of black-and-white-only concert attire but stayed in her tradition of wearing power suits. She paired it with a black sports bra, her crop top of choice for the night (another look she dons often).
Lorde was also on the cover of V Magazine’s Spring 2014 Music Issue and looked stunning gracing the pages of March’s Vogue, which features fellow hot, young, superstar singer Rihanna on the cover. Lorde was shot wearing a pastel green Miu Miu beaded dress and a crown, which seemed perfectly appropriate (see photos here). Lorde, you are indeed the Queen of the Charts this year.
