There was a stretch in the Fall where we were reporting on the film-adaptation of ’50 Shades of Grey’ almost every week. It all started with the drama-filled search for the lead role of Christian Grey. What started out as Charlie Hunnam’s job soon became Jamie Dornan’s role. It appears as if all the drama was worth it because not only are producers satisfied with Dornan, his fellow castmates are gushing over him as well.
According to The Huffington Post, Marcia Gay Harden, who plays Grey’s mother had this to say about her film-son, “He’s beautiful. He’s chiseled beauty and the camera eats it up. He’s a sweet guy.” Harden would go on to lay down more effusive praise on Dornan, but you get the gist.
This is a huge role for Dornan – his biggest to date. Currently, he can be found on the television series ‘Once Upon a Time’ on ABC or the Irish series ‘The Fall’, which was just renewed. Clearly there is some mystery around Dornan, who hasn’t yet hit mainstream. However, according to Harden, the mystery behind Dornan is probably something the producers love about his casting.
Currently, the film is tentatively scheduled to be released in February of 2015. Dornan tweeted ‘Looking forward to 2015’ implying that was when the film was going to be released – and as for his mysteriousness – the tweet was retweeted more than 5,000 times within weeks.
