Puff Daddy Takes Home Title Of Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artist

SXSW Interview: Sean "Diddy" Combs - 2014 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive

P. Diddy, Diddy, Puff Daddy, Sean Combs – the man goes by a lot of titles. Add another one to the list – Forbes’ Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artist in 2014. Puff Daddy was named Forbes’ wealthiest with a whopping $700 million to his name. Combs, 44, is the industry heavyweight and can thank his new cable television network Revolt TV for the title. While Revolt made Puff Daddy a large sum of money this past year, his net worth is also attributed to his clothing line, Sean John, and Ciroc vodka.

Aftermath Entertainment head Dr. Dre took second on Forbes’ annual list at $550 million. Dre’s wealth was buoyed by the tremendous success of his Beats headphones by Dr. Dre. Third on the list was Jay Z at $520 million. Mr. Carter has a variety of revenue streams and also has a wealthy wife. Rounding out the top five was Cash Money Records’ Birdman with a net worth of $160 million and 50 Cent whose music is the main contributor to his $140 million net worth.

For now, Puff Daddy is looking down at the competition. The amazing part of the list is that all five of these hip-hop artists are entrepreneurs and haven’t produced number one caliber music in years.
