Well it looks like the folks at the Onion might be a little annoyed right now. We haven’t seen the last of her. Oscar-nominated nine-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis to star in Jay-Z’s ‘Annie’ remake. Jay-Z is serving as a producer on the new ‘Annie’ movie, which will hit cinemas over Christmas 2014.
Nine-year-old Wallis was nominated for the best actress award at this year’s Oscars for her performance in Beasts Of The Southern Wild, but lost out to Jennifer Lawrence, who took home the trophy for her turn in Silver Linings Playbook. Wallis replaces Willow Smith as the star of the new Annie movie, after the ‘Whip My Hair’ singer, now 12, was deemed to have outgrown the role.
Let’s just hope that by 2014 that Wallis has learned not to act so “above it all.” While the comments the Onion made on Twitter were a little out there, you have to admit that Wallis is either a conceited little girl or she’s been getting terrible advice from her publicist. I guess we’ll see how this all plays out though.
