The Most Ridiculous Juan Pablo Quotes of 2014

Disney ABC Television Group's 2014 Winter TCA Party - Arrivals

When former professional soccer player, Juan Pablo Galavis, retired from the game, he decided to embark on an entirely different career path. Immediately after leaving soccer, Juan Pablo began working in the music industry as a promoter for bars and clubs in Miami.  He also filmed a few TV commercials and enjoyed a short stint on Miami sports show, Mega News. In May 2013, Juan Pablo was a contestant on the popular ABC dating competition show, The Bachelorette. However, shortly after Galavis was eliminated from the show, ABC announced that he would be returning to the network as the star of the 18th season of The Bachelor.  Throughout his tenure on the show, Juan Pablo became known for his quirky, and sometimes offensive, comments.  While some people found Galavis’ comments to be humerous, others are were less impressed and The Cut’s Allison P. Davis, “Juan Pablo is the worst bachelor in history.”  While Juan Pablo may not have won over a lot of hearts, thanks to his odd interjections he has certainly made himself a character to remember.  Here is a list of the most ridiculous quotes from Juan Pablo in 2014.

5 .“I like the words you use. Words in general. Words that you use, how you speak. So proper.”

Juan Pablo said this when describing one of the female contestants on The Bachelor.

4.  “Your eye is like a huge, huge eye.”

Juan Pablo said this to Renee from The Bachelor while the two were hugging. It is a little unclear whether having “a huge, huge eye” is a compliment in Juan Pablo’s mind or something he finds unattractive – either way, it’s a bit ridiculous.

3. “Today we’re going to do really traditional Vietnamese . . . things.”

Juan Pablo, who enjoys traveling and experience other cultures, made this statement before he and the ladies went on a group date on Vietnamese boats.  Again, it is unclear what Juan Pablo meant by this, or what he considers to be a traditional Vietnamese thing. During the same episode, Juan Carlo also used the phrase “traditional things” while he and the girls went on another group date to a farm.

2. “I have a cousin who is gay. His sister is a nun. So it’s been around my house all my life.”

Juan Pablo said this in an attempt to smooth things over after a homophobic statement he made was widely circulated.  Juan Pablo insists that he is not homophobic and did not mean to offend anyone because he has a gay cousin.

1. “Obviously people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up. Now there is fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household having peoples… Two parents sleeping in the same bed and the kid going into bed… It is confusing in a sense…there’s this thing about gay people… it seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not… but they’re more ‘pervert’ in a sense. And to me the show would be too strong… too hard to watch.”

This statement thrust Juan Pablo into the spotlight earlier this year after he spoke out against the possibility of having a gay bachelor.  Juan Pablo quickly attempted to apologize, citing that because English is not his first language he accidentally misuses the world “pervert,” when he meant to say something along the lines of “more affectionate.”
