Robert Downey Jr. Walking Out on An Interview is a Little Awkward

It’s not like it’s some big secret that Robert Downey Jr. has a rather shady past, but that doesn’t mean he wants to discuss it. Let’s be honest, fans; Downey Jr. made some exceptionally poor choices for a while and he suffered the consequences of those choices when it came to addiction. He went to rehab many times before it finally worked, and he’s recovering every single day. He’s managed to take a failing career and a mess and transform it into something really impressive – like a career that has him making more money than any other actor in the Hollywood game. But that does not mean he is interested in discussing his past. It’s been a very long time since he was into drugs and other things of that nature, and he’s got kids, a wife and a life to consider now. That’s why the superstar walked right out of an interview with a British broadcaster this week when the questions went south.

Out to promote the Avengers moving opening in just a few days, the interview seemed to start off on the right foot. It was when the interviewer asked Downey Jr. if he felt that his character in the Marvel films reminded him of his past life as an addict and user that things began to go downhill fast. In fact, it wasn’t long before Downey Jr. just got up and walked away. The interviewer momentarily believed that he was more like Barbara Walters or someone of that nature than a person from the British press and he began pressing Jr. about his past, even going so far as to ask him if he is currently drug and alcohol free. It’s awkward and uncomfortable, and we don’t blame the actor for getting up and walking away in the least.
