Robert Downey Jr. and Wife Expecting Baby Girl

After a bit of unfortunate news in the Downey household with the arrest of Robert Downey Jr.’s son from his previous marriage in the headlines, the actor and his wife have some good news to announce. The Avengers star and his wife are expecting their second child together, and this time it’s a little girl. The couple are already parents to a little boy by the name of Exton Elian, who is 2-and-a-half. Downey’s other son, Indio, is 20.

“Yo. Susan. Me. Baby. Girl. November. Scorpio?” he posted to his Twitter page Thursday morning. The happy news comes about halfway through his wife, Susan’s pregnancy. When he and his wife were expecting their son together, Downey Jr. accidentally told the world the sex of his baby in the middle of an interview on The Tonight Show, later claiming – as a joke — that his wife’s pregnancy was harder on him in terms of hormones and moodiness. Exton was born February 7, 2012, happy and healthy.

Downey Jr.’s policy on parenting is pretty down-to-earth. Despite playing a superhero on the big screen, the famous actor just wants to be a regular dad to his kids. He’s been known to say he wants to be the kind of dad that does dad stuff, not famous movie star stuff, “Do I want to be a hero to my son? No. I would like to be a very real human being. That’s hard enough.” Here’s hoping that the couple’s second child together, and Downey Jr.’s third child is born happy and healthy and that Susan’s pregnancy is free of complication and worry.

It appears that the third time really is the charm for Downey Jr. as he’s finally welcoming a little girl into his life. The actor is 49 and his wife is 40.
