Father-to-be Simon Cowell tops this year’s list of Forbes highest-paid TV personalities. The ‘X-Factor’ mogul earned a mind-boggling $95 million between June 2012 and June 2013 tying him with ‘America’s Got Talent’ host Howard Stern. As Forbes puts it so elegantly the two men who top the list of highest paid TV personalities earned their money by being, well brutally honest.
Most of Cowell’s comes from his ownership stake in ‘X-Factor’ and ‘Got Talent’, which is the biggest-selling television franchise in the world. Not only does Cowell get money from these shows, he has a nod in his record label Syco, which has Leona Lewis and One Direction. Stern, on the other hand, has his big money come from Sirius and the rest coming from his judging on ‘America’s Got Talent’.
Surprisingly, the two shock-TV personalities out-earned, but didn’t out-class Oprah Winfrey, who has been a perennial top earner on the list for years. Oprah clocked in at 4th this year with $77 million in earnings. For those of you keeping score at home, Glenn Beck jumped in at number three at $90 million.
