Can we share a moment of silence? Seems one of the greatest thriller novelists of our time has passed on, and for us not to take a moment to respect the size of that loss would be disrespectful.
Tom Clancy has been bringing us his unique brand of shoot-em-up, espionage thrillers for decades, with seventeen of his novels reaching number one on the New York Times Best Sellers List, and many of his best work being adapted to major motion pictures. This is a loss that will be felt for many, many years to come, and in many mediums, from books, to film and video games.
On October first, the novelist passed away quietly in a Baltimore hospital. The saddest part being that he was only 66 years young, and seemed like he had so much more life in front of him to live. With Jack Ryan starring Chris Pine ready to drop at any moment, it seems Hollywood’s love affair with Tom Clancy had not cooled off at all, and everyone is reeling from this loss, all over Tinseltown. The other irony being that his new book, Command Authority, which is set to drop on December third of this year, is already garnering even more buzz for the late-great author, sadly, fallen before his time.
Tom Clancy was survived by his wife, and the millions of fans who loved his work and appreciated what he did. Our condolences to all of them, and heck, even ourselves about this massive loss.
