Tracy Morgan still ‘struggling’ After Car Accident

2013 Billboard Music Awards - Show

Actor/Comedian, Tracy Morgan is still recovering from the injuries he sustained during the June 7 car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike that killed fellow comedian James Mcnair. his limo was overturned as a result of a dozing 18-wheel truck driver. After the accident Morgan was flown to a hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey where he was in critical condition.  Morgan suffered numerous injuries including broken ribs and a broken nose. Last month, Morgan was released from the hospital and sent to a rehab facility and since then Morgan has returned home to complete his recovery;however, recent reports have shared that the former Saturday Night Live cast member is still “struggling.”  Rumors that Morgan was doing well began In July when he was spotted leaving a doctor’s office and using a walker to aid his steps; where Morgan was quoted telling photographers that he was doing “ok” and felt “strong.” However, Recently, Morgan’s attorney, Benedict Morelli, told The Today Show that none of the updates since the accident have been truly “accurate,” citing the initial reports that Morgan had died, along with rumors that his leg had been amputated.

Last month Morelli announced that the comedian would be suing Walmart – whose truck was responsible for the accident.  Kevin Roper, the truck’s driver, was driving 20 miles over the speed limit at the time of the accident and had been on the job for approximately 13.5 hours.  Morelli says that he intends to make sure that Walmart takes “full responsibility” for the accident because he believes that the company has created a culture where drivers are often over worked.  In the wake of the incident Walmart issued this statement: “We are deeply sorry that one of our trucks was involved. As we’ve said, we’re cooperating fully in the ongoing investigation. We know it will take some time to resolve all of the remaining issues as a result of the accident, but we’re committed to doing the right thing for all involved;” however, there is no word yet on whether or not the company will attempt to settle out of court.

Morelli, who seems to be confident that Morgan will recover, has said of Morgan, “…he’s had issues before that he’s fought through, and he’s fighting hard.” Meanwhile, fans and fellow celebrities from across the world have expressed their support for Morgan and have wished him a speedy recovery.
