X Factor Flub Causes Major Problems For Motown Night

Fox's "The X Factor" Finalists Party

Here is the thing about live TV and live, real-time voting. Stuff can go wrong. When stuff goes wrong on a scale that big, it can often mean major problems for the network. A perfect example of this is what happened during Motown night on X Factor. It was set to be the first time the public could phone in votes for their favorite singers, but someone ended up putting up the wrong numbers for each star, so all the phone-in votes had to be rendered useless. Safe to assume that someone will be losing their job for this.

As MTV reported today, the flub has caused some problems for Fox. The network is now telling people that the votes didn’t actually count, and to re-vote tonight. It was a Motown themed night with some great performances, and we can’t help but think a few of the singers who really did exceptionally well must be slightly upset about this revelation. The glitch was only experienced by east coast viewers, but the problem was big enough that they had to consider all the votes null.

There will be a live show tonight where the singers will preform their “save me” songs, and give the public another chance to phone in their votes. So if you voted last night, tune into Fox tonight and do it all again. Just pretend last night didn’t happen.

That is what Fox and X Factor are doing, after all.
