Wealth, like everything else, comes in various levels.  There are some people who have enough money to cover more than just their basic needs, some who can splurge every now and then, and some who have so much money it’s ridiculous.  But even among those who have a lot of money, there are still ways to show whether or not you’re really ballin’, and what better way to do that than by purchasing an entire island.  Yup, that’s right.  While most people are scraping change together to have the island vacation of their dreams, there are celebrities who are partying on their very own islands.  Here are 10 gorgeous private islands owned by celebrities.

Bonds Cay – Shakira

Located in the Bahamas, the island of Bonds Cay is like paradise. Shakira, along with some other buyers, purchased the 700 acre island in 2011.  Although the island is private, the plan was to turn the island into the perfect travel destination for celebrities.  According to the original idea, “In addition to a boutique hotel, luxury condominiums and homes with private beaches, the island will house an artists’ retreat. There will be a rotating cast of artists-in-residence, galleries populated with up-and-comers’ works and a program that offers semester-long sabbaticals.”

Leaf Cay – Nicolas Cage

In 2006, Nicolas Cage purchased the Bahamian Island, Leaf Cay, for $3 million.  The island encompasses 40 acres and is home to a lot of beautiful scenery.  Apparently, the island cannot be developed because it is home to some endangered species.  Although there are no reports on the current status of the island, some sources say that Cage has decided to sell it.

Little Halls Ponds Cay – Johnny Depp

After the success of his role as captain Jack Sparrow in the popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, it should come as no surprise that Johnny Depp owns an island. Depp’s island, Little Halls Ponds Cay, was purchased by the actor for $3.6 million in 2004. Although the island is not developed, it has become the perfect get away spot for Depp. When asked about the island in 2009, Depp stated, “I don’t think I’d ever seen any place so pure and beautiful. You can feel your pulse rate drop about 20 beats. It’s instant freedom.” Earlier this year, after his marriage to Amber Heard, the couple went to the island to host a party for their close friends and family.

Blackadore Caye – Leonardo DiCaprio

Instead of turning his island into his own private paradise, Leonardi DiCaprio decided to take a different route. His island, Blackadore Caye, which is located off the coast of Belize, is about to undergo a very serious transformation.  Recently, DiCaprio that he plans to have the island transformed into an “eco resort.”   According to DiCaprio “My goal was always the fact that I wanted to create something not just environmental, but restorative. A showcase for what is possible.”

Rooster Cay – Eddie Murphy

In 2007, actor/comedian, Eddie Murphy, purchased Rooster Cay for $15 million.  The beautiful island is located just a few minutes from Nassau and was originally marketed as a potential resort location, but Murphy has said that he may just keep the island to himself and use it for his personal enjoyment.  When you’re faced with two awesome decisions like that, it’s not really all that difficult to make a choice.
