Amanda Bynes and Nine Other Stars Addicted to Plastic Surgery

NYLON Magazine's IT Girl Prom

There’s a lot of news going on right now regarding former childhood actress Amanda Bynes. As a Nickelodeon star in the late-’90s and early-2000s, Bynes has seemingly gone from starlet to dropout, with her recent bad news ending her up in a psych ward after lashing out. It’s a sad story that seems to get even worse with each detail that gets added to it. Although there’s no telling what actually led Bynes to get to the state that she’s currently in, she had shown signs of depression and insecurity in the past, even admitting last year that she felt ugly and was thought to be addicted to plastic surgery. How can a former actress feel so “ugly” to the world around her? Was it the pressure’s of going from childhood star to adult actress? Are the pressure’s of Hollywood too difficult to actually live up to? That’s a debate for another day, but one thing’s for sure, plastic surgery is prevalent with tons of people in showbiz, and Bynes’ admission last year was just another sign in which one of those actresses believes that she needed to change her appearance in order to snag roles and remain relevant. Here are a few other celebrities who might have felt the same thing, because they have had quite the work done on themselves.

10. Amanda Bynes

After admitting on Twitter last year that she had some work done, the former childhood star has undergone a couple of nose jobs to fix some webbing between her eyes. In an even stranger twist, the former actress even admitted to planning an entire makeover on her face, wanting to get the whole thing redone with plastic surgery. Thankfully, it never got to that point, as she ran into other problems which derailed some of those plans.

9. Nicki Minaj

Known for her curves on her ridiculous, tiny frame, rapper Nicki Minaj is a shell of her former self now that she has gone under the knife as frequently as she has. While she hasn’t openly come out and admitted to all the work she has had completed,  many believe that she’s had work done on nearly every part of her body giving her the look that she currently has today.

8. Janice Dickinson

Working as a model for as long as she did, Janice Dickinson knows that it’s important to maintain a certain image about herself. Now a heavy hitter and agent who is constantly looking for new talent, Dickinson has undergone a bevy of different procedures to make sure those potential clients take her seriously upon first appearance of her. That may sound a bit shallow and self-centered, but in the world of high fashion, it’s probably a must in order to keep a career and stay relevant.

7. Kim Kardashian

As much as we would all really enjoy thinking that the incredible curves Kim Kardashian has is all real, unfortunately, that’s just not the case. Much like the aforementioned Nicki Minaj, Kim has had a variety of work done to help her maintain the figure that made her famous. Some of these include fillers to her behind and lips, as well as doctor speculation that she had tightening of the face and a nose job. Whatever was done, she seems to be making it work—while keeping it well hidden, too.

6. Cher

While she has claimed to have only had tow plastic surgeries—her nose and breasts—I’m not so sure anyone truly believes the singer on the amount that she has done to herself. Many plastic surgeons experts argue that she has also had a tummy tuck, liposuction and injectable fillers to help with wrinkles. She has said to be afraid of getting old, so why wouldn’t she do anything she can to help maintain her younger looks?

5. Goldie Hawn

While actress Goldie Hawn is looked at as an icon and one of the most beautiful, 60-something actresses around, a lot of her looks can be traced back to years of plastic surgery. Although she has undergone a number of different procedures, Hawn has recently refused to go under the knife in the past year or so, giving herself a break from the facelifts and other treatments that she became accustomed to.

4. Sylvester Stallone

Known for his heavy-hitter role as Rocky Balboa, actor Sylvester Stallone is also known these days for going under the knife, allegedly having work done on his nose, around his eyes and a getting a forehead lift. One look at him these days, and it’s clear that Sly has had a number of different things done to help maintain a younger, tighter look to his face.

3. Heidi Montag

Remember Heidi Montag? She was one of the outrageous characters on the former MTV show, The Hills, which followed around a bunch of privileged kids, documenting their life of luxury—although, most of it was actually scripted. Still, what’s even faker is Montag’s appearance, as she has undergone extreme plastic surgery to help her enhance her look by getting a nose job, enhancing her lips, pinned her ears back, liposuction on inner and outer thighs and, like most women in showbiz, other enhancements. If she was going for a human Barbie doll, she accomplished it.

2. Mickey Rourke

Once considered to be a sex icon thanks to his natural looks, actor Mickey Rourke decided that he wanted to try and maintain such a billing by undergoing numerous plastic surgery procedures. Included in those have been five nose jobs after breaking it as a boxer in a past career, as well as facelifts on his chin, cheek and lower lips. Rourke is still as talented as they come on-screen, but he’s a lesson in what not to do during plastic surgery.

1. Joan Rivers

In the history of celebrity makeovers, there might not be a more famous person than recently passes Joan Rivers, who had a number of surgeries to maintain a younger look. Rivers wasn’t shy in voicing her procedures, either, admitting to multiple facelifts, bottom, jaw implants, multiple nose jobs, eye work and, well, I could go on and on. She was a legend for her work, but she is probably remembered most for going under the knife as often as she did.
