Fans Stomp Feet in Honor of Marisa Tomei

Sony Pictures Classics With The Cinema Society & Grey Goose Host A Special Screening Of "Love Is Strange" - Arrivals

Marisa Tomei rose to fame during the late 80s for her role in TV shows such as As the World Turns and A Different World.  However, the 1992 film, My Cousin Vinny, boosted Tomei’s career in a usual way.  In the film, there is a scene in which Tomei’s character, Mona Lisa Vito, stomps her feet furiously as she expresses frustration that her “biological clock is ticking.” As she pounds her feet against the front porch, Vinny (Joe Pesci) looks on in confusion. Over the years, the scene has become a fan favorite, and given rise to a sort of celebrity for Tomei’s feet.  Now, more than two decades after the film’s release, fans continue to discuss the humorous scene, and some have even attempted to reenact in their own way.  Here are three tweets from fans who have stomped their feet in honor of Marisa Tomei.

This Twitter user responds to a friend (whose account is private) asking if she stomped her feet when she made her statement.  Although she probably didn’t, chances are she definitely thought about it after.

Writer Marc Antoine Godin chimes in with a clever My Cousin Vinny reference in response to @HarrisonMooney’s tweet.  Oddly enough, real life Marisa Tomei didn’t seem to be too concerned with the ticking of her biological clock as she never had any children. In fact, during an interview in 2009, Tomei resisted the idea of having children, stating: “I don’t know why women need to have children to be seen as complete human beings.”

This Twitter user seems to be more concerned with the fate of her business than having any children. However, she hasn’t forgotten that the tick of a biological clock certainly warrants some feet stomping. Marisa Tomei would probably be proud to know that her scene inspired women in more ways than just one.
