When most people think of a movie star’s salary, they often assume that celebrities are making millions of dollars per film, and that’s because most of them are.  However, there are plenty of extremely well-known celebrities who have had to accept less for their work.  Whether it be a personal choice to star in a movie with a small budget, or because their career has fallen on hard times – some of these celebrities are working for what is considered pennies in the world of the rich and famous.  Although these small jobs certainly won’t pad their pockets, they do prove to their fans that they’re dedicated to their craft.  Here are five huge celebrities with shockingly low salaries.

1. Jonah Hill – Wolf of Wall Street

Jonah Hill has become one of the most well-known funny guys in Hollywood.  However, his checks don’t always amount to what most people think.  Although he starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2013 Oscar nominated film, Wolf of Wall Street, he made just $60,000 for his role.

 4. Ethan Hawke – The Purge

Ethan Hawke has appeared in some pretty big films over the course of his career, so he’s used to making a decent amount of money.  However, his experience working on The Purge was a completely different story. Although Hawke has not revealed how much – or how little – he earned for the film, he has expressed that it was close to nothing.
