Gucci Mane Lyrics That Make you Question The English Language

Gucci Mane holds press conference

Rap star Gucci Mane is one of southern rap’s most popular stars.  After the now 34-year-old Georgia resident released his debut solo album, Trap House, Gucci Mane’s fan base seemed to grow almost immediately. The album’s lead single, “Icy,” peaked at number five on Billboard’s Bubbing Under 100 Singles chart, and was a catchy up-tempo song about being so could that it could potentially cause frostbite.  The song’s chorus, which includes lines, “All these girls excited/Oooo you know they like it/I’m so icy, so icy,” became stuck in the heads of listeners everywhere.  By the beginning of winter in 2004, Gucci suddenly became the hood’s favorite rapper and fans began flocking to Gucci Mane for his catchy lyrics and laid back flow.   However, once Gucci Mane’s novelty wore off, and fans took the time to listen to what he was saying, many of them realized that he wasn’t saying much of anything at all.

Over the course of his career, Gucci’s combination of albums and mixtapes have given him quite an extensive catalog, and he has currently released more albums than some of the industry’s more famous and successful artists. However, although Gucci Mane’s rapper stats may seem impressive,  his lack of lyrical creativity and disrespect towards other artists has often left him regarded as one of the worst rappers alive.  In 2009, when Gucci Mane released a dissed track aimed at his once friend and collaborator, Young Jeezy, fans thought Gucci Mane had officially lost his mind.  However, his behavior continued to worsen throughout the years and Gucci has taken shots at some of rap’s elite, including the legendary Queens, New York rapper, Nas.  Gucci Many went on to cause problems with other well-known rappers, all while releasing music that many people would probably never even hear.

However, although Gucci Mane’s lyrical abilities are sub par, he still manages to maintain a strong fan base who listens to and enjoys listening to his music, but sometimes even his most dedicated fans can’t ignore that some of his lines are just plane awful.  For all of those who were wondering just how ridiculous Gucci Mane’s songs can be, here is a list of his worst lyrics.

5. “Lemonade diamond bracelet, put it in ur face (BURR)/Lemonhead diamond earrings I wore yesterday (BURR)/Im pimpin where im winnin, thats just how I’m chillin/Im smokin grits and sellin chickens, corvette painted lemons.”

Gucci Mane’s “Lemonade” is a prime example of how a song about absolutely nothing can become a hit.  The song, which is probably Gucci Mane’s most noteworthy hit, was released in the winter of 2009 and has since been certified two times platinum.  The track was also remixed several times after its release, including a version featuring titled “For the Money” which appeared on Fabolous’ popular mixtape, There Is No Competition. Although “Lemonade” is intended to be some sort of ode to all things yellow, lines like “Lemondhead diamond earrings I wore yesterday” ruin any change the song had at being taken seriously.

4. “I don’t feel you cuz I’m paraplegic, where’s my paralegal?”

The song “Dope Boys” was released in 2013 as a track on Gucci’s mixtape Burrrprint: 3D (The Movie).  Pitchfork Media’s Tom Berihan, who reviewed the mixtape stated: ” “He’s found his audience by elevating ignorance to expertly absurdist art, thus making his 2009 a worthy successor to Cam’ron’s 2004 or Lil Wayne’s 2005. He’s been on a very, very serious roll.” Gucci’s elevated ignorance is put on display in these lines from “Dope Boys” as he makes some strange and impractical comparison between paraplegics and paralegals which show that he probably doesn’t know what either one of the words mean.

3.“Gucci trap-a-nometry/I’m a hustle-ologist/Way I make it rain you could call me meteorologist”

No catchy rap song is complete without the use of a made up word, and Gucci Mane’s “Got Work” is no different.  While Gucci Mane’s ability to make things up for the sake of a rhyme scheme shows that he does put a little effort into his lyrics, it also shows that he has very little interest in being hailed for his lyricism.  With a track record like of bad lyrics and songs that never became hits, it’s hard to believe that anyone would trust Gucci Mane to predict the local weather, or anything else or that matter. All we can do is hope that Gucci Mane is better at trap-a-nometry and hustle-ology than he is at rapping.

2. “Corner boy I probably sell more rocks than a rock pit/Tryna fill my shoes is like an armless man with chopsticks”

What do shoes and arm-less men with chopsticks have in common? Before this ridiculous line from Gucci Mane’s “My Shadow” chances are the answer was probably nothing.  However, according to Gucci, attempting to fill his shoes is more difficult than an arm-less man trying to pick up food with chopsticks.  But in the eyes of most hip-hop fans, Gucci might as well be shoe-less because lines like this only prove that his footsteps are probably better off not being followed.

1.”I am not the perfect person/May don’t spit the perfect verses/I wouldn’t hurt a girl on purpose cause I feel they don’t deserve it.”

It’s nice to know that Gucci Mane would never hurt a girl on purpose, but even all the manners in the world couldn’t save these lines from being terrible. Interestingly enough’ however, the song’s next lines, “I admit my words can hurt/I dissed Tiny she didn’t deserve it,” address a time when he attempted to hurt a “girl” on purpose.
