Are These Wiz Khalifa Quotes on Tumblr Actually from the Man Himself?

11th Annual BMI Urban Awards - Show

There is an increasing trend in Internet users falsely attributing quotes to their favorite celebrities and it seems that rap star, Wiz Khalifa is the latest victim.  Khalifa, well known for his hit single “Black and Yellow” which reached number one on the Billboard Top 100 charts, first gained popularity in 2008 with the release of his single, “Say Yeah.”  Initially, “quotes” from Khalifa began circulating the Internet when several Twitter accounts who appeared to be associated with Khalifa started publishing tweets using his name.  While some of these accounts clearly announced that they were parodies, many people still believed that the quotes were still coming from Khalifa.  However, most of these quotes that have been associated with Khalifa’s image and/or name were never actually  spoken or written by him.  Here are some Wiz Khalifa quotes from Tumblr that should actually be credited to other sources.

This quote has been making its way around the internet for years; long before anyone even heard of Wiz Khalifa.  According to Goodreads.com, this quote should be attributed to British politicization and Nobel Prize winner, Sir. Winston Churchill.

While this quote is very meaningful, Khalifa’s true fans may have a hard time picturing the rap star saying this- and that’s because he didn’t.  This quote has been attributed to Dr. Joyce Brothers

Although this quote has been slightly altered, the line “And you say we’re too old for love, but maybe you’re too old to remember,” is actually Vanessa Carlton’s song, “Who’s To Say.”

While Wiz Khalifa certainly does believe in music, he isn’t responsible for this quote.  This line actually comes from rock band, Thirty Seconds To Mars’, “Closer To The Edge.”

This gem is another quote that’s been floating around the internet for years.  Frequently used in AIM away messages and MySpace tag lines, this quote definitely pre-dates Wiz Khalifa’s career.  Although it’s origins are unknown, it certainly didn’t come from Khalifa.
