‘Magic Mike 2’ Gets Summer 2015 Release Date

Film Independent's 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival Premiere Of Warner Bros. Pictures' "Magic Mike" - Red Carpet

For all intensive purposes the movie Magic Mike was not a good movie. The ladies appreciated it because, well, we all know why. That appreciation was rewarded with a sequel, as painful as it may seem. According to reports, Magic Mike 2 is headed to theaters in the Summer of 2015. The movie, which will be entitled Magic Mike XXL, is set to open on July 3, 2015 a Independence Day weekend release. It may have a tough time battling for box office supremacy as Paramount’s next Terminator film is scheduled to be released at the same time.

The first Magic Mike, directed by Steven Soderbergh, came out in 2012 and grossed $113.7 million domestically. It has since been adapted into a Broadway musical. The second film will be directed by Greg Jacobs while Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin are co-writing the script. It goes without saying that Tatum as well as the other cast will be returning to the film.

Sorry ladies, you have quite some time to wait before the film is released, but the good news is – it’s coming. It’ll be curious to see how Tatum does writing the script. He doesn’t have a lot of experience writing, but he was helped by Matthew McConaughey so it may be a success.
